The NGO “Association of Young Innovators and Inventors of Montenegro” has become an official partner of the Slovenian institute Super Glavce for the implementation of the FIRST LEGO League programme in Montenegro. Through this partnership, one of the world’s most recognised educational robotics and STEM programmes is once again becoming available to children and young people across the country.

FIRST LEGO League combines science, technology, engineering and mathematics through engaging, hands-on learning. Participants are encouraged to explore, code, build and develop innovative solutions to real-world challenges while strengthening their creativity, critical thinking, communication, confidence and teamwork skills.

The programme is divided into three age categories: Discover, Explore and Challenge. During the first pilot season in Montenegro, the Challenge category will be organised for students between the ages of 10 and 16.

The competition consists of four key areas:

Core Values
Throughout the programme, participants apply the principles of teamwork, cooperation, innovation, inclusion, discovery and fun. Judges assess how effectively teams demonstrate these values during their preparations, project presentations and competition activities.

Robot Game
Teams design, build and programme a LEGO robot to autonomously complete as many missions as possible on a specially designed competition field. Each match lasts two and a half minutes, during which teams apply their strategy and aim to score the highest possible number of points.

Robot Design
Teams present the process behind the design, construction and programming of their robot. Participants explain their chosen strategy, mechanical and software solutions, and the methods they used to test and continuously improve the robot.

Innovation Project
Teams explore a real-world problem connected to the theme of the current season and develop an original solution. They present their work to the judges, explaining how they identified and researched the problem, developed and tested their idea, and shared it with others.

The return of FIRST LEGO League represents an important step in the development of STEM education in Montenegro, providing young people with an opportunity to build valuable knowledge and future-ready skills through play, research and practical experience.
